Financial assistance for constructing or expanding industrial facilities is available from a variety of public and private sources; among them are the Carroll County Industrial Development Authority, which can arrange industrial revenue bonds, and the Carroll Industrial Land Corporation, which can arrange private financing packages.
Sales Tax
4.0% state plus 1.0% local. Items purchased for direct use or consumption in manufacturing are tax-exempt. Certified pollution control facilities and equipment used primarily for pollution abatement are also exempt.
Meals Tax
5.0% Meals Tax on the purchaser of every meal served, sold or delivered in the Town of Hillsville by a restaurant or caterer.
Transient Lodging Tax
4.0% tax on each transient of the amount paid by lodging by or for any such transient to any hotel.
